To members and non-members, please join your SMDPA cousins and guests this April for our Annual Meeting at the Merion Cricket Club.  Our guest speaker, Michael Tougias, will present a lecture on the war between the colonists and Native Americans in 1675-1676.  Promptly at 11:00 AM, the nominating Committee will install the 2017-2018 SMDPA Officers and Board of Assistants.  After lunch, Governor Peter Adams will present the "Kitty F. Little Distinguished Achievement Award" to author and lecturer Michael Tougias.  Sit back to enjoy a wonderfu, educational talk with Michael Tougias to be followed by book selling and signing. Annual Summer Picnic

The SMDPA will be hosting the Summer Picnic in Haverford, PA during the Haverford Township Historical Society Heritage Festival.

A favorite springtime event for township residents, the Festival celebrates local history and culture in the beautiful natural setting by Cobbs Creek.  The Heritage Festival features living history exhibits, live music, delicious food and a beer garden.  The SMDPA is proud to be sponsoring a table at this event featuring Mayflower Society and membership information, and the sale of our commemorative items.  

The Heritage Festival takes place on Karakung Drive between Lakeside Drive and Manoa Road in Haverford, PA.  Stroll along the drive and enjoy the day with the whole family.  If our junior members are interested in participating at the exhibit table, please contact James Buckner, Education Chair at:  This email address is being protected from spambots. Please join us Sunday at 2:00 PM for our annual Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Exton, PA followed by our Society's traditional Thanksgiving Dinner at the Sheraton Great Valley Hotel, 707 East Lancaster Ave., Frazer, PA, and the presentation of the John Hunt Jr. Most Distinguished Pilgrim Award to a current SMDPA member. The award is bestowed upon Pennsylvania Society members for their exceptional service to the state Society.

Mayflower Scholarship is Undergoing Change

Apply by May 1, 2017 The Society of Mayflower Descendants in Pennsylvania is pleased to announce their 2017 scholarship program. The Elizabeth Tilley Howland Scholarship honors Mayflower passenger Elizabeth Tilley Howland with a one thousand dollar grant. The Howland scholarship is for a 2017 Pennsylvania high school graduate and Mayflower Descendant who is going on to college in the United States. Entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2017.
